Sharing Truth and Shifting the Narrative

Sharing Truth, Shifting the Narrative

Latina women are the heart of families, businesses, and entire communities. They are leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and caregivers—shaping the future with strength, creativity, and unwavering determination. Yet their impact is often misunderstood, minimized, or overlooked.

At a time when harmful narratives continue to circulate, it’s more important than ever to uplift the real stories—stories rooted in truth, resilience, and love for community.

¡Viva Nuestra Voz! was created to do just that: to shine a light on the beauty, brilliance, and everyday contributions of Latina women across Tampa Bay and beyond.

"If in my journey through this life I managed to plant a seed that contributed to or transformed someone else's life, then my life was not an accident, but a purpose that left a mark and made a difference.”

Marcela Torres, Enterprising Latinas entrepreneur and coach.

Marcela’s words capture what this campaign is all about. Latinas are not just surviving—they are planting seeds of change and creating a legacy of purpose.

Bringing Down the Myths - By Highlighting the Reality of Latinas in the US. Through Sharing Truth and Shifting the Narrative, we confront stereotypes with facts and real stories that show the true impact of Latinas.

Rather than increasing our society’s confrontation, we choose to invite others to debunk the common narrative with facts of who we really are:

Myth 1: "Latinas take jobs from others"

The truth is, Latinas create jobs. They are one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the U.S., starting businesses at six times the national rate. Many also work in essential industries—healthcare, education, and agriculture—that keep our communities moving forward.

Myth 2: "Latinas don’t want to learn English"

In reality, Latinas deeply value education, both for themselves and their children. Many learn English while balancing jobs, parenting, and community life. Language does not reflect intelligence—it reflects opportunity and access.

Myth 3: "Latinas are a burden on the system"

This couldn't be further from the truth. Latinas contribute billions in taxes, support local economies, and care for those around them—often while being excluded from the very benefits they help sustain.

Myth 4: "Immigrant Latinas just want to take advantage"

Immigrants in general, come to the US looking for opportunities to contribute for opportunities to contribute and be part of the economy even at the expense of their own well-being.

Myth 5: "Latinas aren’t entrepreneurial"

In fact, Latinas are launching businesses across industries, from fashion to tech. They are innovating, creating jobs, and proving that with heart and hustle, anything is possible.

Myth 6: "They don’t contribute to society" Latina women are mentors, movement leaders, caregivers, and change-makers. Their presence, work, and voices are woven into the fabric of our shared future.

Together, We Rise

At Enterprising Latinas, we believe that no woman should walk her journey alone. That’s why we’ve built a space where Latinas feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue their goals.

From employment coaching to training and entrepreneurship, we offer tools, resources, and encouragement to help women thrive on their own terms.

This campaign is not just about breaking stereotypes—it’s about raising our stories with pride, power, and purpose.

Let’s continue to uplift real stories. Let’s choose truth over assumptions, connection over judgment, and community over division.

And above all, let’s make sure that every Latina feels proud of who she is and what she brings to this country.
