Hurricane season in Florida is a challenge best met when a community stands united, informed, and backed by committed leaders. At Enterprising Latinas, we proudly celebrate the successful completion of the Disaster Recovery Navigation Program; a pivotal initiative driven alongside the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC) and the Hillsborough & Pinellas County Disaster Recovery Centers.

This program did more than deliver material resources to high-need areas; it planted the seeds for an active culture of prevention. Throughout the sessions in Wimauma, Tampa, and St. Petersburg, the ELI team proved that economic development goes hand in hand with housing stability and family safety.
Leadership that inspires action
The success of these events reflects the collective drive of our team and moments that deeply touched attendees. We want to extend a special recognition to Lisselott Ramirez, whose words and leadership during the program underscored the importance of moving from reaction to proactivity. Her speech resonated strongly, inspiring families to take charge of their own safety and utilize the resources provided to protect what they have worked so hard to build.
The Impact of prevention: what we achieved together
Throughout this community resilience circuit, we delivered practical, immediate solutions to dozens of families across the Tampa Bay area completely free of charge:
Preparedness Tools: Expert guidance and toolkits were provided to map out comprehensive family emergency plans.
Emergency Backpacks: Local families went home equipped with emergency backpacks loaded with essential supplies.
Asset Protection Through Digitization: Thanks to the on-site document scanning service, participants securely digitized and backed up vital identification, property records, and medical files—a critical step ahead of any potential evacuation.
Strengthening Community Bonds: The recovery centers became safe gathering spaces, energized by music, snacks, and meaningful conversations between neighbors and experts.

The Way forward
While the in-person events for this program concluded with an energetic closing celebration, Enterprising Latinas’ commitment remains ongoing. Preparedness is a continuous journey.
We encourage our community to keep applying the lessons learned this month, review their household emergency protocols, and stay connected with our broader economic and professional development programs. Congratulations to the ELI team on an exceptional job, and thank you to every community member who joined us to build a stronger Tampa Bay!
