Enterprising Latinas' community development initiatives seek to create transformational changes that create a healthy and thriving Wimauma community for all.

Building a hub for all residents to access resources that address barriers to their economic prosperity.

Wimauma Opportunity Center

Promoted public investments in Wimauma that led to the campaign Wimauma Now, advocating for updates to the Wimauma Neighborhood plan, which resulted in the revitalization of downtown Wimauma and the creation of a thriving local economy.

Wimauma-NOW compaign

Bridging the digital divide by providing free access to the internet through a community-based platform that serves 500 households and businesses along Wimauma's main corridor.

Wimauma Connects Project

Celebrated Wimauma’s diverse food culture through local restaurants, showcasing Latin American and Southern soul food while supporting local businesses. The tours fostered economic growth and strengthened community ties through Wimauma’s rich culinary heritage.

Wimauma Sabor & Soul

Enterprising Latinas’ Black History Month celebration to unite all members of the community in honor of the contributions of the African American community of Wimauma from 2018 to 2022.

Breakfast of the soul - Black History Month

 Organized the development of a 60+ Member community collaborative that led the Covid-19 pandemic response in Wimauma.

Hace Calor Campaign

Climate Change Newspaper in Education

With the goal of engaging youth in climate change literacy and action through school and community newspapers, the collaborative project “It’s Hot Out There” was created to raise awareness about heat-related illnesses among outdoor workers. This initiative, led by Enterprising Latinas and produced by NIE, is supported by a grant from Allegany Franciscan Ministries.
