OUR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY
We believe talent is everywhere, and opportunities are too! Understanding that our zip code impacts the health and wealth of individuals, ELI chose a place-based strategy from which to advance its work as we seek to transform community challenges into real economic opportunities for low-income women in the rural communities undergoing rapid change in South Hillsborough County, Florida. ELI mobilizes and advocates for resources to invest in moving women out of poverty and to help them become the economic drivers they have the capacity to be.
Since 2014, Enterprising Latinas has reached the following community milestones:

Since 2014, Enterprising Latinas has reached the following community milestones:
- Established the Wimauma Opportunity Center as a community resource hub to access support, training and mentoring opportunities.
- Developed the Wimauma Connects free community wi-fi network to bridge the digital divide for over 550 families.
- Co-created the Wimauma NOW! campaign advocating for updates to the Wimauma neighborhood plan.
- Convened the Wimauma Together Collaborative with 30 organizations and agencies addressing community needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Advocated for and lifted the needs of low-income women and enabled access to new public and private resources to serve families in Wimauma and adjacent communities.
