Increasing early childhood education opportunities for children by promoting women’s self-employment
What is this project about?
Wimauma Cares is a micro-enterprise development initiative
that is increasing access to quality early childhood education in Wimauma by training women to become Licensed Family Childcare providers.
Why we do this work?
Too many of Wimauma’s children are not ready to learn when they enter school. Economic opportunities for women in Wimauma are very limited. By helping women acquire the skills to educate children and run their own family childcare home, we are addressing two of the community’s priorities; lack of access to educational opportunities for children and economic opportunities for women.
What Are The Services Of The Program?
- Preparing women for the state exam and licensing
- Assisting women plan their family childcare business
- Promoting women’s start-up & Launch of their family childcare home
